General Knowledge Age: Sixty-seven moons Breed: Mutt Reason for Name: ONYX → For her mainly black colouring amongst her tortoiseshell pelt, as it is as dark as the stone she is named for, of which her mother was fond of trinkets that had onyx on them SONG STAR → For her patience and kindness towards others, particularly kits and apprentices, and her melodic voice and for the way she spoke - soft, gentle, like a lullaby For her position as leader of RoseClan Appearance Onyxstar certainly takes after her grandmother, the founder of RoseClan, Emberstar. She too has the sleek appearance of the she-cat that helped her clan survive those first few years. Her fur, too, is almost exactly like Emberstar's; a tortoiseshell mix of gingers, whites and blacks. The majority of her fur is black, which is what she was named for; the onyx stone. Her fur is short, cropped, and well groomed - though she is a leader, she still takes the time to groom, both with her clan and by herself. Her eyes are a dull, soft green in colour. They are nothing special; just a simple green, like grass. They are round in shape, large and curious looking. Onyxstar does not have many scars, though her stomach, from once carrying kits, shows that she has been a mother, and often bloated from the newleaf and greenleaf food that makes her clan plumper in older age, which Onyxstar is starting to share. Personality [PATIENT] → Onyxstar is known for her patience, her willingness to listen. It has earned her a name in the clans; she is willing to listen to problems and help solve them, if she is able. She is patient with rambunctious kits, loud apprentices and stubborn warriors. She has had experience, having had kits of her own and training three apprentices, and being a kit herself with two younger siblings to compete with, which she never often did - she's been patient since she was a kit. [SELF-CONFIDENT] → Onyxstar has such self belief since she is the grandchild of Emberstar - one of the founders of the three clans. Not only that, she knows she is a capable warrior, her three apprentices show that. She is also a capable mother, and likes to think that cats look up to her because she has had many life experiences some elders have not even had, including having to deal with the disappearance of their last leader. [RATIONAL]→ When offered with a problem, Onyxstar likes to think things through. She never likes rushing into things and must know everything before she starts. She will also think over stories of kittypets and loners that she often lets into the clan, which some of the other clans see as RoseClan's weakness. [PASSIONATE] → She loves her clan, she loves her family, and she is very passionate about being a leader. She loves what she does, and is always up early in the morning to go on patrol. She wants to live up to Emberstar's name, and will defend her clan with all nine of her lives. [KIND] → As RoseClan is known to let in loners and kittypets, Onyxstar is kind towards those that need help. If a cat was even driven from another clan, she would open the clan to them, given the entire story behind their banishment. Being a mother has helped make her kinder, but some would argue that that has made her soft, too soft, and is too willing to let in anyone into the clan. Despite the love between them, the only had one successful litter; Onyxkit, Opalkit and Black-kit. They grew up as one of the first litters not personally knowing Emberstar, their beloved leader, but knowing of her tales, the stories told of how she led RoseClan to their new home. Onyxkit, Opalkit and Black-kit adored hearing the tales of their beloved grandmother, constantly asking anyone who would listen about her. They wanted to know everything about her. Their father, Quartzclaw, obliged and told them everything. Onyxkit was always the most enthralled by the stories, and one day, she knew she was going to be the leader herself. Black-kit always protested and said he would be leader long before Onyxkit even got a chance, and they formed a strong rivalry between each other.] [Onyxkit was ecstatic the day she was made an apprentice. Her mentor was a strong and loyal warrior, Coalfoot, a large black and white tom with distinct black feet. Onyxpaw adored her mentor; he was strong, loyal, powerful, and everyone thought he would become leader one day. But he never did. Coalfoot never wanted to become leader. He was happy with the simple life of a warrior, training apprentices. Onyxpaw was his final apprentice before he retired. Onyxpaw was the first of her three siblings to become a warrior; Onyxsong, for how well she treated others, even if they had wronged her. Not long after, Opalpaw was killed by a fox after sneaking off alone, to meet a loner she had fallen in love with. Blackpaw was made Blackface after he killed the fox that had taken Opalpaw's life.] [Onyxsong was a hard-working warrior from then on. She hunted every day, offered to join patrols as often as she could. It wasn't long before she and a tom-cat became quite friendly. He was Silverkoi, a warrior several moons older than her. Everyone knew Onyxsong was going to have kits one day, but when she retired to the nursery fat with Silverkoi's kits, it was actually a surprise to everyone, as she was only eighteen moons old. When the kits were born, everyone loved them, especially Onyxsong's parents. She had three kits; Violetkit, Chromekit and Stripedkit. Her mother also was in the nursery at the same time, pregnant with her second litter. Onyxsong's kits were a moon old when her mother gave birth to her own kits. It didn't go well for her, or any of the kits born. They all died, and so did Brightheart. Quartzclaw was devastated and refused to meet Onyxsong's kits anymore, sad that his mate wasn't there to raise their second litter.] [Onyxsong was grateful for leaving the nursery when her kits became apprentices. She was given her own apprentice not long after leaving the nursery; Sparrowpaw was a nervous and skittish young cat, who's mentor had retired to the elder's den. Onyxsong was gentle with him, kind and patient. Sparrowpaw became a warrior four moons after Onyxsong started training him; Sparrowcall. Onyxsong was proud, and also proud of her own kits, who were coming up to their assessments. Onyxsong helped out, watching her kits and assessing how they had done; not being biased because they were her own. Chromepaw and Stripedpaw were both efficient and did well, but Violetpaw struggled. So, Chromepaw and Stripedpaw became Chromesong and Stripedstorm, whilst Violetpaw remained in the apprentice den.] [Four moons later, Violetpaw became a warrior; Violetstep. Onyxsong couldn't have been prouder. It was then she received her second apprentice; Lionpaw. Lionpaw was impatient and needy, and Onyxsong did everything she could to train him. It only took four moons to make him a warrior; Lionstrike. Not too long after Onyxsong was free of an apprentice, her son, Stripedstorm, was killed by falling rubble. Onyxsong was devastated, to know her kit had died so painfully. This was what drove her and her mate, Silverkoi, apart, having spent less and less time together after their kits had become apprentices. It was a mutual, clean break-up, and nobody in the clan thought it too terrible.] [Onyxsong was training her third apprentice, Yarrowpaw, when the leader died. They had led the clan since Emberstar's passing, and when the deputy became the leader, they chose Onyxsong as their deputy. Onyxsong, now forty moons, was the best choice for the clan, everyone knew that. She was, after all, the grand-daughter of Emberstar, the very cat who had founded their clan. Onyxsong wasn't deputy for long; the new leader of RoseClan didn't fare too well. He lost two lives to a fox, another to a rogue, three to illness, one to falling rubble, one to falling from a tall building, and he drowned himself, the pressure of leadership too much. So Onyxsong had to take the mantle, and became Onyxstar. Her apprentice, Yarrowpaw, became Yarrowscreech, and she was free of an apprentice. And so she led the clan, for seventeen moons, just as her grandmother, Emberstar did before her. She hoped she would be as good for her clan as Emberstar was, to live up to the family name.]
