VIOLETSTEP
ROSECLAN x WARRIOR
[NERVOUS] œ [CAUTIOUS] œ [POLITE]
General Knowledge
AGE: THIRTY-NINE MOONS
GENDER: SHE-CAT
BREED: MUTT
SEXUALITY: HETEROSEXUAL
REASON FOR NAME:prefix VIOLET: given to her due to the pale coloration of her fur, a name that is usually popular amongst cats with light colored pelts.
suffix STEP: given to her due to her forever cautious personality. she would test every last step she takes if she thought she would be able to get away with it. always weary, the suffix step seemed like the best name to be given to such a cautious kitty.
Appearance
Lean and sleek, Violetstep appears to be a rather healthy-looking cat. Her muscles are lean, leaving her to look as though she is just a tad bit skinnier than she ought to be. Her fur is very short and almost always seems to have a natural sheen to it, most likely due to a high diet in fish. Her face is well rounded with a narrow jaw. Claws terribly sharp, she is constantly clawing at the ground or scratching them on wood out of a sort of worrisome habit. She has a delightfully long tail that is in an almost constant motion with it's tip always twitching ever so slightly. Her legs are long and her paws a decent size, she has a great body for quick movements, though she rarely seems to make them. Often slow and concise in what she does and how she moves, it is only really her tail that ever seems to go about in any sort of quick movements.
Like her name suggests, Violetstep has lightly colored fur. A good majority of it seems to be marred with pale lines. Her tabby pelt seems to be a somewhat greyed-brown, darker on her back than anywhere else. Lighter, almost beige markings seem to streak her back and a vast majority of her face. Just the tiniest amounts of pale grey (almost white) can be seen at the tips of her ear tufts. Her eyes are circled with that beige fur and just around her eyes. It seems like they were lined with coal, the black thick around them. Right around her mouth is pale grey fur and across the rest of her jaw is beige. Everywhere a whisker protrudes from her face is a dark brown, almost black, dot, leaving her face to appear freckled. Her lower chest, sides, and belly are all light beige, darker grey stripes spread sparringly through out. The upper part of her chest as well as the underside of her neck is pale grey, almost white, the faintest tinges of beige noticeable in it. All for of her paws are the sandy beige color, small dark stripes are apparent around her front paws. Her nose is a pale brown in color, with a darker outline and her eyes, much like her mothers, are a vibrant (almost emerald-like) green, just the faintest flecks of yellow apparent in them.
Personality
nervous
A rather skittish cat, Violetstep is in a constant state of nervousness, always wondering and pondering what sort of bad events could fall upon the Clan. It's all the little things that seem to happen around her that make her keep her ears pricked and she is almost constantly looking for some terrible signs of danger. Her eyes always open, always searching and seeking when she is anywhere but inside the RoseClan Camp grounds. She sometimes seems to have somewhat of a stutter when talking to toms and, for the most part, shies away, knowing there are much better she-cats in the clan than herself.
cautious
Forever cautious, she would much rather examine all the possibilities and outcomes before actually taking any steps. It was this temperament of hers that had delayed her Warrior Ceremony, but for good reason. Violetstep would much rather take her time and proceed with caution than rush into something and end up getting hurt, or worse, hurting someone else. It is always best to take the safer route rather than end up being sorry in the end. After all, rushing into things will only make matters worse for someone in the end. Why rush and likely mess things up when you can take your time and make sure that everything is done safely and soundly?
polite
Something that was imbued in her since she was a kit, Violetstep is always kind to others and extremely polite in the way she speaks. Manners are key to her and she believes that, with the right amount of manners, it is easier to make friends instead of enemies. She has rather good etiquette, especially when it comes to interacting with others, and, due to her more cautious nature, she would rather come off as polite than anything else. The thought of making enemies seems to always be a damper on her thoughts, though she rarely lets it show through.
thoughtful
A great listener, due to coming off more as quiet than anything else, she likes to believe that she is a very thoughtful cat. She doesn't mind listening to what others have to say and would much rather be the listener than the talker. Listening to others helps to keep her calm and stable, often keeping her worries at bay. She would rather think about what others have to say to her than think about everything else that is constantly on her mind, knowing perfectly well that it is better to come off as helpful to at least one cat than to be useless to all of them.
worrisome
Violetstep also seems to have days when she is in a state of worry. Worried that she will end up getting damaged beyond repair. Worried that her mother will lose her nine lives before she makes eighty moons. Worried that something will happen to her sister like something had happened to her brother. And worried about many, many other things. Her thoughts are almost constantly filled when she is by herself, which is why when she feels as if she is slipping into one of these states, she likes to constantly have at least one cat with her. When she is alone, her thoughts consume her and she becomes somewhat jumpy, even flinching at the subtlest rustling of leaves or grass from time to time. Her worry only seems to come about, though, when she is highly stressed. She does, however, have many methods to keep herself calm and often utilizes them, not wanting her worry to get in the way of her being a warrior.
quiet
As stated, Violetstep isn't much for talking. She is quiet, always thinking. Her tone is soft, almost always coming off as a whisper as if trying to make as little noise as possible. She would much rather sit back and relax in the shade or down by the water front where the only sounds that could be heard were the soft ebbing of the lake or pond, depending on which water source she decided to rest by. Because she doesn't often like talking, or at least not aloud, she is perfect for listening to what other cats have to say and, though she probably isn't the best at giving advice, she is always willing to help another cat in need.
other
On the rare occasions that Violetstep does like to talk, she is often telling stories like the ones she had been told. She loved to ask about the other clans, the things that had happened, and what the original three leaders had been like. With many, many stories seeming to be stored inside of her, she has found a passion for reciting them to kits and young apprentices. She is also a very gentle spirit, her tone always gentle like a lightly passing breeze. She would much rather use kinder tones towards others, especially young cats, than come off as sounding rude or mean. She is often quite calm, at least on the outside, and, though she is a bit over-cautious, she feels she'll make a great mentor someday to a young apprentice, hoping that she will eventually get her chance. She is slowly trying to get over her nervousness and worrisome personality traits through relaxation and the like, but that part of her doesn't seem like it's going to be changing anytime soon.

The tale of Violetstep started many moons ago when her mother, who had been Onyxsong at the time, had met Silverkoi. It had seemed like a love like no other at the time. Her mother was young, only eighteen moons when she had become pregnant with the silver tom's kits, something that had surprised many a warrior at that time. With how dedicated a warrior Onyxsong was already turning out to be, though kits had been expected of her, they had seemed to always assume that it would be quite a bit of time before the kits would actually be born. At around the same time, Brightheart, Onyxsong's mother, was in the nursery, getting ready to have her second litter of kits. Though happiness should have been shared for the births Violetkit, Chromekit, and Stripedkit, only sadness seemed to fill the moon to come as complications took the life of Brightheart and her litter.
Violetkit didn't quite remember her grandmother, having been far too young at the time, but she does remember the distance that her grandfather seemed to out between him and his grandchildren. Most of her time that was spent in the nursery was spent in a somewhat calm, almost lazy fashion. She had never been as energetic or playful as her siblings, never had as much of a determination be bouncy like the rest. She would much rather sit back and observe or listen to stories. Yes, stories. She had always loved asking about the tales of the leaders come before she was born. Stories of cats like Emberstar and Whitestar, of old medicine cats or plagues that might have struck. Stories helped to keep her calm, but it was probably also these very same tales that had led her to become somewhat more cautious than she probably should have been.
Her days as a kit hadn't exactly been the most eventful, what with Violetkit being what some would have thought of as lazy, but she had always thought that when she became an apprentice, that might change. After all, training with a mentor was supposed to be fun, wasn't it? Something that would bring about excitement to a dull kit's life. But excitement wasn't what was brought. Violetpaw had been assigned to a tom by the name of Stormpelt, a name he earned for his dark grey and long pelt, something that had reminded his mother of clouds during a storm. For Violetpaw, it had been something like love at first sight. She found herself becoming very nervous around her mentor, often distracted from what she was supposed to be doing and it was this distractability that had lead her to struggle a bit more than she probably should have. It also didn't seem to help that, as she moved through her training, she started becoming more and more cautious. It was very clear to her that her feelings were not returned, though it shouldn't have been much of a surprise.
When her siblings became warriors before her, Violetpaw started to get more nervous. It was during the next several sunrises that her worrisome personality traits started to form. She feared that she wouldn't become a warrior, that maybe she would just end up as an elder straight from her apprenticeship. Fears of many different possibilities for her future became apparent and, at the time, she didn't know how to handle them, how to handle stress at all. So she started talking to her mother and elders to try and get some help. It seemed to do the trick, getting her fears out in the open made things easier on her and she continued on in her apprenticeship with Stormpelt. It had taken her four more moons than her siblings but she had finally passed her assessments and became Violetstep.
Violetstep tried to become braver when she was made a Warrior, hoping to push away her 'mousiness' and try to keep herself from getting too nervous around other cats. And she had known just the way to do it. She often volunteered herself for patrols when she knew that Stormpelt would be apart of them, hoping that she would be able to get closer to him and help him. Though she showed her affections towards the tom in as many ways as she could, it was very clear that he didn't see her in the same light. She would never truly be his equal, never truly be a cat that he could see himself mating with. At best, she was a sister to him and, at worse, she would always be the first apprentice he had. Try as she might, it didn't seem as if anything was going to change that.
It was when her brother, Stripedstorm, had died that she finally stopped vying for Stormpelt's attention. Though not as devasted as her mother, Violetstep had felt more sadness in that moment than she had at any other time in her so far short life. Her younger brother, someone who she thought would someday possibly become one of the greatest warriors in RoseClan, was suddenly dead. And because of what? Rubble. Falling rubble from the slowly collapsing two-leg place. She tried to help her mother through it, but Violetstep's own worries and despair seemed to always be getting in the way. She couldn't believe how quickly her brother had been taken from her and she vowed that she would always look twice before going anywhere, always remain the ever cautious cat that she had started to become during her apprentice days.
And so far in her life, she has remained cautious and quiet, just as she had said she would. She didn't want to end up dying on her mother, especially after her mother had become Onyxstar, Leader of RoseClan. Yes, she felt a small bit of pride in being the daughter of the leader, but she never let it go to her head. She would simply think on it from time to time as she relaxed by the water. She is slowly starting to mellow out a bit, her worry not becoming as frequant a problem and her nervousness around cats, especially toms, starting to become less and less of an issue. She is certain that it will take quite a bit of time before either of those things goes away, but the one part of her that she knows will always stay is her caution. She doesn't want to end up like her brother, or any other cat that had gotten a tad bit careless and ended up dying because o fit. She wanted to live a long and happy life. Though she still does dream that someday, Stormpelt would return her feelings, she knows it's all for naught. She wants to fall in love with a cat who will love her back someday and, more than anything, she wants to become something great, even though she doesn't always feel as if she was destined for greatness. Maybe when she finally gets her own apprentice, she'll be able to prove that she's not as bad or lazy as some may think she is. She just wants the chance to shine, to come out of her shell, even though she is too scared to do it herself.
