As temperatures begin to rise, an outbreak in the rodent population has shown its ugly little head. The disease seems to be spreading like wildfire, jumping from rats to squirrels and mice. It had been the hope of the Clans that this was simply a phase. That it would stay within the rat population and wouldn't wander. However, that is not the case.
Cats still caught the healthy looking rats and mice. Unfortunately they weren't always as healthy as they appeared. So far only two case has been seen in cats, however one of the cases resulted in the loss of beloved deputy Cypressheart of PineClan. Warriors and Medicine Cats be ready, even if an epidemic doesn't hit the Clans, it is sure to be a hungry next several months.
So far PineClan has been hit the hardest. With a diet based mainly on mice and squirrels and their loss of a deputy, they will have to struggle to stay afloat. StoneClan has so far benefited from their high diet birds but are not immune to the lack of rats and mice in their coffers. So far the only distress put on RoseClan are the hungry snakes and agitated snakes. With the balance overthrown and Greenleaf promising to be a scorcher, Clan tensions will surely be on the rise.
