THATCHPAW
STONECLAN x MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICE
[PATIENT] œ [THOUGHTFUL] œ [ENERGETIC]
General Knowledge
AGE: SIX MOONS
GENDER: TOM
BREED: DOMESTIC SHORTHAIR
SEXUALITY: ASEXUAL
REASON FOR NAME:prefix THATCH: Named for darker stripes in his fur, closely resembling small straws through out his fur. Though not strictly named for the color of his eyes, as they changed from the usual blue that most kits are born with to the nearly amber, almost straw-like, color they are now, it seemed to be a perfect fit with his name. On top of both these reasons, his somewhat twiggy appearance, much like thatch, seemed to be the true deal sealer on his naming.
suffix PAW: Being but an apprentice, he has no suffix yet, bearing but the name of paw until his apprenticship has come to an end and his mentor gives him a proper suffix.
Appearance
Thatchpaw could easily be considered the runt of his litter. He was never the biggest nor the strongest. In appearance, he looks somewhat twig-ish. His legs long and skinny and his body thin, almost frail looking. Though don't be fooled, he is perfectly healthy despite how he looks. Though he isn't quite as strong, in build nor appearance, the way his body is built helps him with speed and agility, not that he really needs that. His face, like most of his family, is round, though his jaw seems to be quite narrow and his ears seem to be just a bit large for his head. His tail is of medium length, the tip just barely able to reach his front paws. He has whiskers a plenty for sensory purposes. Though one of the many downfalls of his size and build makes him easily susceptible to the brisk air currents that blow through the once great two-leg city StoneClan now calls home.
The way his body was built is only one of the reasons he was named what he is. Another seems to be his fur. Not so much from the coloration, though, more for the thin dark stripes lining his legs, appearing as if they were burnt pieces of straw wrapped around them. The majority of his fur his fur is medium gray with what seems to be an almost silver undercoat. His underbelly as well as all four paws are white with just a hint of biege on the upper parts of his chest. His head is, for the most part, the same color as the rest of his fur, with darker gray, almost black, markings around the forehead and the eyes. Circling around his eyes and as well as his muzzle are white with just a hint of gray near the mouth. His eyes are a bright amber color, just the faint hint of green shining through.
Being small has it's advantages and it's more than likely that he will stay the smallest of his family, not thought to grow much bigger than he already is.
Personality
patient
Forever patient, Thatchpaw could wait forever for someone who he made a promise to, liking to keep himself calm and collected most days. He is also rather good around those who could annoy most, liking to try his best to keep a level head and not let any sort of anger tamper with him. On a great day, he can sit back and listen for hours about any number of things, whether it be from the stories the elders might tell to the mini-tales that kits may create. He believes that patience is something that all cats should have and that only with patience can one succeed in the daunting searches for herbs and prey.
kind
A kindness like no other shines in his eyes. He does his best to remain polite and considerate towards the rest of his Clanmates and, though he won't go out of his way, he will show the same respect towards members of the Clans around him. He doesn't like to believe that everything has to be settle with fighting and would much rather be a peacekeeper amongst those he cares about rather than taking sides. His views tend to leave him unjudgemental towards the actions of others, believing that only StarClan should have the right to judge someone.
thoughtful
Almost always thinking, he'd rather try to understand what's going on before making any sort of decision. Don't get him wrong, when the time arises, he can think rather quickly on his feet, especially if it would be the difference between another cat's life or death. Putting thought into what he does is his way of trying to not make mistakes, and when a mistake is made, he tends to get a bit hard on himself. He loves to hear what others have to say and will gladly give advice to those in need of it, even if his advice isn't exactly the best due to his young age.
dreamer
When he has time alone, Thatchpaw will often find a nice place to sit that is high enough to stare at the Tall Silver Forest and think. He likes to let his mind drift off into space and daydream, thinking about what his mother might have been like or what kind of cat he may grow up to be. Dreams are a key part of him and, being one chosen take the role of Medicine Cat Apprentice, they are also very useful to him. It is common knowledge that StarClan uses their Medicine Cats to send visions and messages and it is that very thing that makes him excited. He wishes to talk to StarClan, to hear what they have to say. Just one of the many things he likes to dream about.
quick learner
Thatch is incredibly smart and has an amazing memory, making him ideal for memorizing herbs. He loves to learn and prides himself on his ability to learn quickly. Though he knows there are many things he is going to have to learn, he wants to learn them all and as fast as he can, something that he doesn't quite understand could be a deadly mistake on his part. Though he knows that he should take things slowly, and he is more than willing to at that, he just wants to feel useful. And what better way to feel useful than by knowing as much as he can?
energetic
Thatchpaw had always been full of energy and often loved putting that energy to good use. Whether it was with playing as a kit or using it as somewhat of a boost when roaming around. He loved moving about and exploring things. Where most would more than likely try to put such energy into either hunting or training, he liked to use it as a means to keep him going when he was having somewhat of a down day. While on the inside he could be distraught, he would hide it behind a ruse of playfulness and readiness that was helped by his energy 'store'.
other
Thatchpaw often tries to compensate for his size by being the best apprentice he can be, when he does do something wrong, he feels horrible about it and will often, more likely when others aren't around to see him, sulk or tear himself down verbally as if accidents didn't happen to everyone. He tries to hide his insecurities about himself for others to not see, keeping them bottled up and thinking things to himself when he feels he is at his low points.

The birth of Thatchkit and Mallowkit are just one of three that would belong to Grousesong and Timbertail, the story would also be the last page of their proverbial saga. Long before their birth, though, had been the birth of Bronzekit and Owlkit. Once loving and calm kits, they had had a rather calm time in the nursery. Though it was when they had become apprentice did they slowly start growing apart. Owlpaw had had the displeasure of losing her mentor at a young age and it was this loss, from what Thatchpaw would be later told, that would drive the spike between Owlpaw and Bronzepaw's relationship. Though Owlpaw had been the one set back by the loss of a mentor, she would be the first to become a warrior and don the name Owlclaw. Bronzepaw ended up being one of the oldest apprentices, though at eighteen moons, he finally earned his warrior name: Bronzebreeze.
Four moons later, another set of kits had been born to Grousesong. Those being Darkkit, Specklekit, and Spottedkit. Darkkit had been the strongest of that litter, the twins being left week and sickly. Ironcall had only been able to save one, for a cat can only so much power over the matters of life and death. Specklekit's passing occured a moon after her birth. As Darkkit and Spottedkit became Darkpaw and Spottedpaw, the two hadn't seemed to entirely close. Darkpaw had always secretly looked up to Owlclaw and his ambitions were to become a warrior faster than his older sister had. Like Owlclaw before him, Darkpaw's own mentor had passed, though only a moon before he was given his name of Darkstripe, soon to be joined by Spottednewt.
It was only a few short moons later that one last chapter would be written for Grousesong and Timbertail.
Born during a mild Leaf-fall, Thatchkit and Mallowkit could have been consider somewhat a miracle. Their mother had been sick, dying of disease just before their birth and, of what could have been six siblings, only the two had remain. It would have seemed that Ironcall had tried his hardest to save the mother but Grousesong's only wish was to let her life slip by her while her children had the chance to live. It was obvious that he had wanted to save her but when it had seemed like there was just no way, he had done as she had asked. She had given up her life for them. There had been almost no way to save four of the kits, leaving just the two to be tended.
From Leaf-fall to New Leaf, the two kits, along with their aunt, Nettlepelt, and cousin, Hazelkit, had lived in the Medicine Cat's den. It was at such an early age that Thatchkit had gotten an interest in herbs, marvelling at them and smelling them when he got the chance. As he aged, he would often try and ask questions that would go unanswered, most likely due to his bouncing about inside the den. Though he was scrawny, the young tom had been full of energy and it was these traits that seemed to make him a favorite with his older brother, Bronzebreeze. Thatchkit loved bouncing around and being along side his brother, almost looking up to the other tom. It was good that he had Bronzebreeze with him, for at the young age of five moons, after already losing their mother, Timbertail had been found dead.
Thatchkit had been too young to truly understand what it had meant and, through his dreamy eyes, he often imagined his father up in the Starpelt with his mother and the kits who had passed before him in his family. Most of his time, after his mourning and dreaming, he was raised by his aunt, Nettlepelt. He didn't quite understand the ceremonies at the time, though his brother made it clear that, even though their father was gone, he would still be watching over them when Thatchkit and Mallowkit would become Thatchpaw and Mallowpaw just a short moon later.
Starclan must have been watching Thatchkit, must have felt that there was something good about him, something special, and had sent the signs to Ironcall to take the scrawny kit as his apprentice. When Thatchkit became Thatchpaw, assigned to the Medicine Cat, he had become elated. He can't wait to start his training, wishing nothing more than to become a great Medicine Cat just like Ironcall someday.
