COALWING
STONECLAN x WARRIOR
[BENIGN] ● [INDUSTRIOUS] ● [ASTUTE]
General Knowledge
AGE: 38 Moons
GENDER: Female
BREED: Mixed Breed
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual
REASON FOR NAME:prefix
Named for her black mask and points.
suffix
Thanks to her slim build, she is seemingly as swift as a bird in flight.
Appearance
Coalwing is tall for a female with a slim build beneath her medium-long, feather-light fur. Her musculature is lean, built for speed and agility more than strength and making her a good hunter. Her long claws and lightweight build make her an excellent climber. They also come in handy in fights, and while she’s a bit on the lighter side her agility makes her a dangerous opponent.
Her coat is composed primarily of various shades of gray, lighter on her underside and interspersed with charcoal and black on her back, shoulders, and flanks. Her paws are black and the color extends up the outsides of her legs, forming a pair of straps on her front legs before merging with the gray-ticked black cape of on her back. Her tail, while mostly gray, has black fringes and a black tip. Her face is primarily black with gray on her cheeks, brows, forehead, and temples. The insides of her ears are gray as well, with long hairs curling out from them.
Her eyes are, like both of her parents’ and many other cats’ besides, a bright yellow which is slightly darker around the center. Her nose is truly as black as coal and matches her whiskers. The pads of her paws are similarly dark in coloration, with the occasional pinkish patch. Her claws are dark gray and semi-transparent, and the sheathes which protect them are black like her pads. She is missing one of the toes from her left hind paw.
Personality
For the most part, Coalwing is a thoughtful, personable she-cat. She tends to be very polite and quite playful with fellow warriors and apprentices. She is usually a fairly shrewd judge of character, though if one is trying she can be fooled just as any other cat can – she is not infallible. She is not generally unpleasant to strangers, but she can be a bit suspicious of "scruffy, shifty-looking individuals". If she is distracted or upset she can come across as a bit gruff or stoic, but she generally means no offense by it. She is honest almost to a fault, preferring a direct approach and disapproving of liars.
Like most cats, she is quite curious and intelligent, and she spends much of her time observing the world around her and striving to learn and understand all she can. When not hunting, helping to train apprentices, or seeing to other chores, she can often be found with the elders or in or near the medicine cat's den picking Ironcall's brain or just helping out. While generally tactful she will not hesitate to correct another's mistake, usually in a friendly and well-meaning manner. As is the case with most anycat, she can be abrasive or cold when jealous or offended, but it usually takes a good deal of effort to ruffle her fur. It is difficult to truly tick her off, and it is a situation to be avoided at all costs as she is not a cat one wants to have angry with them.
She is in general a kind and considerate creature, often willing to go out of her way to lend an ear or a paw as needed.

Coalwing was born in Moon Two of Year Eight to a pair of warriors named Ravenpelt (her father) and Ironwire (her mother), both mixed breeds. It was from her father that she inherited her black markings, long fur, and bright yellow eyes. Her mother was as thin as a whip and very fast; it was from her that Coalwing inherited her slim build, hidden beneath her father’s fur. Coalwing was one of a rather motley litter of eight born in mid-Newleaf, with two of them dying of the usual kitten-killers. That is about as tragic as her life gets, as from that point on they are all happy, healthy kits who spend their days eating, sleeping, and playing when not occupied with one of the above. Coalkit became Coalpaw during Moon Eight of Year Eight as she began her apprenticeship with her siblings promptly at six moons of age.
Her apprenticeship was fairly uneventful aside from the minor accident during her tenth moon in which she lost one of the toes on her left hind paw. She and a couple of the other apprentices had snuck off to explore one of the more precarious derelict buildings, and she stepped on a wickedly-sharp shard of glass sticking up in the layer of dust and dirt. It sliced the toe right off, and cut a deep knick into the one next to it though she was fortunate in that it did not damage the ligaments in the second toe. The medicine cat managed to stop her from bleeding out after she limped back home with the assistance of her friends, but it was a closer thing than they ever actually let on.
With treatment and care for her injury, she made a full recovery and resumed her apprentice training. The remained of her time as an apprentice was uneventful aside from the frequent tests of skill, knowledge, and fortitude which apprentices close to the end of their training are often subjected to. During Moon Eight of Year Nine she was given her warrior name and allowed to join the other adults at 18 moons old after twelve moons of training. The twenty moons since then have been relatively uneventful with the exception of the epidemic brought by the mosquitoes in Year Nine which claimed her mother’s life.
