Naming Guide because we're a little bit different here Now I don't want to do this because I don't want you think I'm a prude. Unfortunately I am going to do this and some of you are going to think I'm a prude, that is just the way of life. To Endure Time is a Traditional Warriors Site when it regards names, more or less. However this doesn't necessarily mean you can't use some odd or over the top names. I mean some of these cats live around two-leg stuff all the time! Its going to happen. However the part of the Traditional Naming I appreciate is how if you want a really odd name like Diamondglass, you've got to truly explain why that name works. So first I will use Diamondglass as an example and show you an acceptable version versus one that will be rejected. Now not every name will be like this, more simple names like Marshpelt or Stoneclaw are easier to explain and while I appreciate actual thought being to put into it, such simple and self explanatory names don't require it. But I digress.
ACCEPTABLE prefix - Diamond. Her Mother named her for bright white fur that shined bright after being groomed clean, like a diamond on the trinket she received as a gift. suffix - glass. Given to her for the simple personality she has. Impossible at keeping secrets or hiding things, she is often referred to as 'see through' or 'clear as glass'.
NOT ACCEPTABLE prefix - Diamond. Her white fur. suffix - glass. They cut themselves on glass.
For a complete list of rules consult this thread.
If you want further help I'd suggest using Ailuronymy or more simple Ebony Crow

EXTRA NAME LIST last updated: 06/12/2013 Each Clan has come across an extra set of prefixes and suffixes that pepper their existence as commonly as Bracken, Hawk, Squirrel, Moss and many other traditional names. Most are exotic and extravagant compared to what the original clans used. They relate in some way to the world the twolegs left behind and are very Clan Specific. Unless a prefix/suffix is listed under more than one Clan, you will not find it attached to any other Clan. The only exception being a RoseClan mother/father who moved to PineClan naming her kits names RoseClan cats would have. However realize this should affect the treatment the kits receive in Clan they are in as they grow up. Typically in a negative way.
These names, however, should be used within reason and while the prefix is there, they shouldn't be used simply because you as a user want to use it. Not unless you can truly explain why, of course.
StoneClan > Industrial building materials the cats live with every day. A Kittypet by the name of Olm taught them these words. Prefixes
-Marble (popular with white and gray tabbies) -Granite (popular with darker gray tabbies) -Iron (popular with solid gray cats) -Steel (popular with solid gray blue cats) -Copper (common with orange or red tabbies) -Tin (common with white cats) -Metal (common with a number of neutral colors) -Coal (common with black cats) -Brass (common with brown and orange tabbies) -Bronze (common with brown tabbies) -Thatch (common with light colored cats or cats with long fur)
Suffix
-Wire (for slim features, long pelt, or a long tail) -Glass (generally used to elaborate the eyes, a stealthy cat, or a see-through personality)
PineClan > Names of new plants, some exotic, for cats that live out within them in the wild. A native loner who took on the name Kitewing taught the Medicine Cat such terms to help avoid the Clan eating poison. Prefix
-Yew (Common with bristly shorthaired cats) -Magnolia (Common with feminine white cats) -Kale (Common with neutral classic and marble tabbies) -Cedar (Common with Reddish Brown cats) -Hedge (Common with thickly built neutral cats) -Dahlia (Common with orange and white she-cats) -Lilac (Common with lightly colored she-cats) -Cypress (Common with light brown tabbies) -Alder (Common with dark brown tabbies) -Gingko (Common with yellow and light brown cats) -Myrtle (Common with dark colored cats with white spots)
Suffix
RoseClan > A combination of flowers and gems so popular with twolegs. It was not until a few years ago that the Clan was taught these words by a passing loner named Sammy. Most of these names, especially those regarding eyes, are typically taken after the request of a name change has been made.
Prefix
-Iris (common with she-cats with bright pelts) -Tulip (common with she-cats with bright pelts) -Violet (common with lightly colored she-cats) -Diamond (common with white or light gray cats) -Chrome (common with silver cats) -Opal (common with lightly colored cats or speckled tabbies) -Onyx (common with black cats) -Quartz (common with pale cats) -Koi (popular with calicos and yellow or silver spotted tabbies)
Suffix
-Koi (used to accentuate calico pelts or tabby markings that look like scales) -Glaze (used to accentuate the eyes or the shine of fur)
