[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=width,420,true][cs=2] COALFEATHER ● DEPUTY ● STONECLAN |
| [QUIET] ● [RATIONAL] ● [SERIOUS] | General Knowledge Age: 46 moons Breed: Mixed Reason for Name:prefix for how his pelt resembles coal after it has been smudged on a lighter surface suffix for his soft feathery-like long fur
Appearance
| The Build | On the spectrum of size, Coalfeather is slightly larger than average. He's built with broad shoulders and a well muscled body. He was made to fight, not hunt. He's stronger than most, an advantage that his size and muscle have given him. The tom was born with large paws and as a result, long claws as well.
| The Pelt | Coalfeather appears bulky, but some the fault can be blamed on his pelt. His fur is long and a menace to have when wet. His mother taught him to always keep his pelt in order and he still values that lesson. Coalfeather's fur is well taken care of, soft and feathery to the touch. In colors, his pelt a mix of black, gray, and the colors in between. His face, back, and the outsides of his legs are covered in black fur. The tom's neck, chest, and underbelly are covered a silver-grey mix.
| The Eyes | They say that the eyes are the window to the soul. For this the tom, his eyes are perhaps the most expressive part of his face. His face is a carefully controlled mask and for those who can read them, the tom's eyes can tell you how he is feeling. He has two large amber eyes. They have smaller flecks of brown and green.
Personality
| Quiet | Serious | Coalfeather is a rather silent tom. He doesn't speak very much unless addressed by someone else or unless he feels his input is needed. When asked for his opinion, every word is carefully chosen and each is presented in a polite manner. Amidst groups, Coalfeather is often overlooked. This gives him the tendency of hearing more than most do. For those who don't know him, Coalfeather comes off as cold. He wears a neutral face and keeps his emotions to himself. It a strange sight to see this tom laugh or crack a smile. He does have a sense of humor, but keeps his rare smiles for those he loves.
| Rational | Patient | He is not the type to rush into things head first. It's stupid and can be dangerous. Coalfeather likes to have all the information at his paws before entering a situation. He likes to think things through, judging this and that before acting. Combined with this is a patience to admire. He can handle temper tantrums without batting an eye or a particularly stubborn warrior. He'll sit there and wait for as long as he must. Coalfeather is an avid listener, offering an ear to those who need one.
| Suspicious | Loyal | To his clan and loved ones, Coalfeather is completely dedicated to them. He would do whatever it took to protect them. This being said, Coalfeather has little tolerance for outsiders, whether they come from the other clans or a non-clan cat. He does not trust them and often thinks the worst of them. He'll chase intruders off the clan's territory without so much as a regret. If an outsider should join the clan, they should know that Coalfeather is watching their every move. He will keep an eye on them whenever he can until he is sure that they are not a threat.
History Family:mother Ospreystep father Steelheart sister Slatewire former mate Crowstrike son Stormkit daughter Ravenkit niece Spiderpaw niece Shadepaw niece Shalepaw
The story of his parents was not one of love. There were no crushes, no moonlit walks, or confessions of secret feelings. Steelheart and Ospreystep were nothing more than good friends. They were two warriors who had never found someone they wanted to be with and both desperately desired to be parents. Steelheart would soon be a senior warrior and Ospreystep was only six moons behind in age. Tired of waiting, they spent several moons discussing the idea and decided to do it together.
One early leaf-bare morning, Ospreystep gave birth to a tom and she-cat. Coalkit resembled his mother while Slatekit favored her father. The kits were as healthy as could be expected of kits born during the cold season. In their first moon, the young kits caught a mild case of white cough, but they recovered. The rest of their kithood was relatively normal. Their father spent every moment of his free time in the nursery. Coalkit and his sister hung out in the elder's den and found ways to drive their mother crazy.
The day Coalkit became an apprentice was the most exciting day in his young life. Normally he was a quiet and serious kit, but even he couldn't keep his excitement under control. Coalpaw was apprenticed to Crowstrike. Crowstrike's fiery personality clashed with Coalpaw's quiet and reserved nature. Interesting would be the word to describe their relationship. His reserved personality clashed with her fiery one. The two were often at odds and she did her best to keep them at it.
Crowstrike tried to drag her apprentice out of his shell, caused him to yell on a couple of occasions, and pushed him into making friends. Coalpaw disliked her, but couldn't stop her breaking his walls down. For their differences, Crowstrike taught well and Coalpaw easily picked up what she threw at him. On his thirteenth moon, Coalpaw and his sister passed the final assessment and received their warrior names. He was named Coalfeather for his feathery appearance and Slatepaw became Slatewire.
Coalfeather was a hardworking warrior. He was content with life. He spent most of his time with his sister and his old mentor. His mother had passed away shortly after he became a warrior from Red Bite, and Crowstrike helped him through it. It is not uncommon for mentor and apprentice to fall for another and this is what happened to them. They fell in love, even if they were an odd couple. Crowstrike was too loud and Coalfeather was too serious, but that didn't stop them.
Coalfeather was nineteen moons old when Crowstrike announced she was having kits. Both were overjoyed, but it wasn't meant to be. On the day she went into labor, something went wrong. Crowstrike died from infection and their two kits died days later. Wracked with grief, Coalfeather withdrew into himself, throwing up his walls with full force. He did not mourn publicly, but instead threw himself into hunting and patrols. Work was the only thing he felt he could do.
Three moons later, the leader gave Coalfeather his first apprentice to help him focus on. Nightpaw was a bratty little tom with a high opinion of himself. It was with much needed patience and a strict attitude that the warrior brought the younger tom down a notch. Seven moons after training, Nightpaw became a warrior. Coalfeather sat proudly as Nightstep joined him as a warrior. It was one of the few times Coalfeather can be remember yelling at a clan meeting.
Five moons later, he was assigned his second apprentice. He was thirty-five moons and had for the most part recovered from the deaths of his mate and kits. Thatchpaw's mentor had been among several cats lost to a dog that had wandered into Stoneclan territory. The she-cat was half way through her apprenticeship, but was a slow learner. The pair spent six moons together taking each day one step at a time.
Towards the end of this apprenticeship, his sister moved into the nursery and Coalfeather started to spend time with the cat responsible, finally deeming the tom worthy of Slatewire. His nieces arrived he kits days after Thatchglass became a warrior. The tom was proud of both his apprentice and sister as she brought three kits into the world. He was forty-one moons and an uncle.
Coalfeather was a doting uncle and was as close to the kits as their parents. He would take them on "patrols" outside of camp and tell stories. The kits were in their fifth moon when the leader of Stoneclan died and Falconwire replaced him. When Falconwire replaced Owlstar as leader of Stoneclan, he chose Coalfeather as his deputy. Once named deputy, Coalfeather, although surprised took the new position proudly. It wasn't his own capabilities that took him by surprise, but the fact that he'd never shown a desire for leadership. It was fine reward for his hard work and dedication. He's been deputy for little over a moon and is still adjusting to his new title and power. He helps Falconstar as much as he can and is quickly becoming more confident in his role with each passing day.
